Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is based on a problem solving, model and aims to prevent inappropriate behavior through teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors (OESP Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports, 2007).

What does PBIS mean?

PBIS means that teachers, administrators, and support staff are going to take the time to TEACH positive behavior expectations to all students.  PBIS means that students will know exactly what is expected of them and will be recognized and rewarded when they meet those expectations. Students who choose not to meet school-wide expectations will be given logical consequences that are intended to reinforce the expected behavior.

School Rules

The Elverta School District has adopted three school rules under which all expected behaviors fall.

These three school rules are:

Be Respectful

Be Responsible

Be Safe
