A Change in Leadership

Dear Elverta Joint Elementary School District Families, Staff, and Community,
I am writing to share an important organizational update regarding leadership at Elverta Joint Elementary School District.
After 26 years in education, Mr. Michael Wells has announced his retirement from his position as Superintendent/Principal effective July 1, 2026. During his career, Mr. Wells has dedicated himself to supporting students, staff, families, and the greater school community. His leadership at Elverta Elementary has focused on maintaining a positive learning environment, supporting academic growth, and fostering strong relationships throughout the district.
Mr. Wells shared the following message with the community:
“I have had the honor of finishing my career in education at Elverta Elementary. Working with the students and staff here has been a great experience and I can think of no better way to end a career in education. Thank you goes out to the community and families, along with everyone associated with Elverta Elementary, for keeping Elverta the kind school that it is.”
The Board of Trustees recognizes and appreciates Mr. Wells’ years of service, leadership, and commitment to the students and families of the district. We thank him for his dedication to public education and wish him the very best in his retirement.
The District is also pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Troy Miller as the new Superintendent/Principal of Elverta Joint Elementary School District.
Mr. Miller joins Elverta from Arcohe Union School District in Herald, California, located in southern Sacramento County, where he served for 12 years as Superintendent/Principal. Mr. Miller earned a Master’s Degree in History from Northern Illinois University and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Concordia University. Throughout his career, he has held several educational positions with increasing responsibilities in schools in California and Illinois, as well as with the Sacramento County Office of Education. Mr. Miller states " I'm excited to become part of the Elverta community because it embodies the values that are important to me, strong community connections, small town character, and a shared commitment of putting students first."
Mr. Wells shared the following regarding the transition:
“Mr. Miller is the right fit for our small, rural school district. He appreciates our uniqueness and will celebrate what makes Elverta Elementary special, which is the community, families, staff, and students.”
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Wells on his retirement and welcoming Mr. Miller to the Elverta family. We look forward to continued success and a strong future for our students and community under his leadership.
