Troy Miller Bio
Welcome!
I am honored and excited to serve as the Superintendent/Principal of Elverta Joint Elementary School District and to become part of this incredible community. I look forward to getting to know our students, families, staff, and community members and working together to provide the very best educational experience for every child.
My journey in education has been shaped by both my professional experiences and my personal story. As a child, I attended seven different schools in five different states because my father worked as an insurance auditor for State Farm, and our family moved frequently. I know what it feels like to be the new kid, to walk into a classroom where everyone already knows each other, and to search for a place where you belong. Those experiences have stayed with me throughout my life and have shaped the way I lead schools today. I believe every student deserves to feel welcomed, valued, connected, and supported from the moment they step onto campus.
I have dedicated more than 25 years to public education, serving as both a classroom teacher and administrator. Before joining Elverta, I had the privilege of serving for 12 years as the Superintendent/Principal of Arcohe Union School District. Throughout my career, my focus has remained the same: putting students first, supporting exceptional teachers and staff, and building strong partnerships with families. I firmly believe that every decision we make should be guided by one question: What is best for students?
Education has always been a passion of mine. I earned my bachelor's degree in History from California State University, Sacramento, my master's degree in History from Northern Illinois University, and my master's degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University. Each experience has helped shape my belief that learning is a lifelong journey and that great schools inspire curiosity, character, and confidence in every student.
My wife and I have been married for 28 years, and together we have three wonderful children. Like many of our families, education has always been a central part of our lives, as my wife is also an educator. Being a parent has given me an even deeper appreciation for the trust families place in their schools every day, and I consider it a privilege to help create an environment where children can thrive.
Outside of school, you'll most likely find me on an athletic field. I have coached a variety of youth and high school sports, including baseball, track and field, and football. Football has been a particularly meaningful part of my life, and I have been coaching for more than 20 years at several different levels. Today, I am proud to serve as an assistant football coach at my hometown of Dixon High School. Coaching has reinforced many of the same lessons I value in education—teamwork, perseverance, accountability, and believing in the potential of every young person.
I truly love working with students and families because I have a student-first mentality and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I believe the strongest schools are built on relationships, trust, and open communication, and I look forward to partnering with all of you as we continue building on the many strengths of Elverta Joint Elementary School District.
Most importantly, I would love to get to know you. Every family has a story, every student has unique talents, and every member of our community contributes to what makes Elverta special. I encourage you to introduce yourself when you see me on campus or at school events. My door is always open, and I look forward to learning from you as we work together to help every student succeed.
Thank you for welcoming me to the Elverta family. I am excited for all that we will accomplish together.
